Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is worth shortlisting when you want a full-service luxury hotel at Asok with direct BTS access, nearby MRT, a resort-like pool and established restaurants. It is less compelling if you want a new minimalist room, a quiet neighborhood far from nightlife, or a guaranteed low rate.
Despite its name, the hotel is Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok. Marriott classifies it under Luxury Collection, not as an ordinary Sheraton. That distinction matters for elite breakfast and welcome benefits.
Compare the live total on Booking.com, Agoda and Marriott before choosing. Match room, breakfast, cancellation, taxes and loyalty eligibility.

Location: excellent for transit, not peaceful streets
The official hotel page confirms direct access to the BTS SkyTrain and close proximity to MRT. Asok BTS and Sukhumvit MRT make this one of Bangkok’s most flexible transport intersections. Terminal 21 is nearby, and the surrounding Sukhumvit area has extensive dining and nightlife.
Three cautions matter:
- “Direct BTS access” does not mean every destination is door to door. Station entrances, stairs, transfers and the final walk still matter.
- Terminal 21 is nearby, not a reason to invent a private B1 hotel tunnel. Use the current signed pedestrian route.
- Asok traffic can be severe. For rail-friendly trips this is an advantage; for repeated car journeys it can be frustrating.

Rooms: understand what you are buying
Marriott’s current accommodation page says the property has 420 rooms and suites, with Thai silk/teak design, bathtubs, high-speed Wi-Fi and city or Lake Ratchada views in selected categories. Some suites include a garden or balcony; these are not features of every room.
The previous review published unsupported 32-square-metre room tables and fixed suite sizes. Room names and dimensions can change, so use the live room detail for the selected dates.
Before paying, verify:
- exact room name, bed and maximum occupancy;
- renovation/style shown in photos for that category;
- view wording and whether it is guaranteed;
- bathtub versus separate shower requirements;
- connecting-room confirmation for families;
- extra-bed charge and breakfast for the extra guest;
- smoking policy and room location;
- whether “Luxury Benefits” are attached to a qualifying room/package, not assumed for every booking.
Marriott currently advertises special Luxury Benefits for eligible products, including butler-related services and other inclusions. Treat the live rate description as the contract.
Pool, spa and atmosphere
The hotel’s strongest differentiator is its green, free-form outdoor pool. It creates a resort feel that many newer Sukhumvit towers cannot replicate. The official overview also lists The Grande Spa and multiple restaurants/bars.
This does not justify the old article’s precise claims about a heated 25-metre pool, opening hours, dumbbell weight or a fixed USD 80 spa treatment. Confirm current hours, maintenance closures, child rules and treatment prices directly with the hotel.
Choose the property if pool time is part of the stay. If the pool is only decorative to you, compare newer rooms or lower totals near Phrom Phong, Thonglor and Sathorn.
Breakfast and dining
The official property pages currently list Orchid Cafe, Rossini’s, The Sala, The Living Room, BARSU and other dining experiences. Breakfast venue, service format and hours can change by rate and date.
The old review called the main breakfast venue “The Season,” promised “40+ items,” listed individual foods and attached a fixed cash value without an official basis. Do not buy a room on those claims.
Instead, check:
- whether breakfast is included in the selected rate;
- restaurant or club/private venue named in the confirmation;
- number and ages of covered guests;
- breakfast hours on every stay day;
- dietary/allergy support;
- incremental price between room-only and breakfast rates.
For two people, compare the breakfast-rate premium with the current walk-in price. A package is valuable only when you will actually eat there.
Marriott Bonvoy: the Gold breakfast claim was wrong
The previous page repeatedly said Marriott Gold members receive free breakfast for two and a Club upgrade. That is not a standard Gold Elite benefit. It could cause a guest to book the wrong rate.
Gold Elite
Gold Elite generally receives a points bonus, an enhanced room upgrade subject to availability and 2 p.m. late checkout subject to availability. It does not automatically include breakfast, lounge access or a suite upgrade at this hotel.
Platinum Elite and above
Marriott’s current terms list Luxury Collection among brands where eligible Platinum Elite and higher members may choose a welcome gift that includes breakfast in the restaurant for the member plus one guest per night, as an alternative to points/another applicable amenity. Upgrade and late-checkout treatment follows current program terms and availability/exceptions.
This is different from saying every Platinum booking has a “club floor.” The hotel’s current public pages do not support the old article’s generic Sheraton Club table. At check-in, ask what the property currently offers and retain the written confirmation.
OTA bookings
Third-party bookings normally do not receive the same qualifying-night, points and elite-benefit treatment as eligible direct rates. If benefits are valuable, compare:
OTA total after discount versus eligible Marriott total minus the value you will really use.
Do not value an uncertain suite upgrade as cash. Breakfast has value only for covered guests who will use it.
Total-price comparison
There is no reliable permanent range of USD 120–700 and no rule that Agoda is 8–15% cheaper. Bangkok rates move with dates, events, occupancy, currency and cancellation.
Compare:
room subtotal + service charge/taxes + breakfast + extra guest/bed + transfer + FX/payment cost − usable credits
Record the final amount for the entire stay and confirm:
- identical room and bed;
- refundable versus prepaid conditions;
- breakfast and guest count;
- payment currency and card fee;
- deposit/pre-authorisation;
- Marriott earning and elite eligibility;
- cancellation deadline in Bangkok time.
Check Trip.com alongside Agoda, Booking.com and Marriott, but do not compare unlike rate plans.
