Marriott Bonvoy Gold to Platinum, Then Titanium in 2026: Nights, Shortcuts and Benefits

To move from Gold to Platinum, you need 50 Elite Night Credits between 1 January and 31 December of the same year. Titanium needs 75. Gold covers 25 to 49. Most nights earn one credit each, and points stays count too (Marriott Bonvoy program terms, section 4.2).

The program terms, the Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium benefit pages and the credit card page do not list a status challenge open to members in general, and this guide does not cover what happens if you phone Marriott and ask. The published routes are:

• Qualifying nights in a calendar year.
• Elite Night Credits from co-branded credit cards, and complimentary status from some cards.
• Event nights (for whoever books the event).
• Airline partner programs. The only official "challenge" is a Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer one.

The terms are marked "Updated September 2026". Marriott can change the elite rules at any time, so confirm the current terms before you book nights around them.

How many nights each level needs

To achieve or renew a level, you earn the credits between 1 January and 31 December of a given year. Ambassador is the next tier above Titanium. Its spend requirement counts qualifying charges from completed stays only; co-brand credit card spend and event charges do not count toward it.

What counts toward your nights

Credit goes to the person who personally stays in the room and pays for it. The terms count only nights on a qualifying stay that is individually billed to you (or direct billed to your company, outside group or convention business).

Qualifying Rates include rates on Marriott.com without a discount code, standard and premium retail rates, advance purchase rates, corporate negotiated rates and government rates.

Non-Qualifying Rates earn no credit and, in general, no tier benefits. The terms make one exception (section 1.3.c): Gold Elite and above still get enhanced in-room internet access regardless of booking method, subject to the exclusions in that section. The terms list these as Non-Qualifying Rates:

• Rooms booked through a tour operator, online travel channel or other third-party channel (the terms name Expedia, Booking.com and others).
• Group rates at an event, meeting, conference or organised tour where you do not pay the hotel directly.
• Tour operator, wholesaler, crew or package rates.
• Complimentary rooms.
• Rooms bought with a voucher or a third-party award.

Give your membership number when you reserve or at check-in. You cannot earn credit at two properties for the same dates.

Missing stays. If a stay is not in your account, you can ask for the credit through "Report a Missing Stay" on the Member Account Activity page, or through Member Support (terms, section 9.2). Requests must arrive within one year of the stay. The clause does not cover Elite Night Credits earned under section 4 of the terms (the elite membership section), and stays at Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy have their own request route.

Shortcuts: cards, airline partners and events

Co-branded credit cards (United States)

The Marriott Bonvoy credit cards page is the US page. These are Chase and American Express cards issued in the United States. The page links to separate pages for China, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Mexico, Canada and Brazil, which are not covered here. If you live in one of those places, use your own country's page: the cards, benefits and fees differ.

Fees are as shown on the Marriott credit cards page. The Boundless card also has a "Path to Gold" at US$35,000 spent per calendar year. The page says the credits count toward the next level of Elite status and that limitations apply per Marriott Bonvoy member account.

Simple arithmetic: a card that gives 25 credits leaves 25 nights to reach 50. One that gives 15 leaves 35. The Brilliant card gives Platinum outright, so you would not need the nights for Platinum itself, and its 25 credits would help toward Titanium. These are US products; the page does not say the same terms apply elsewhere.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer (the one official "challenge")

The Marriott Bonvoy and KrisFlyer preferred partnership terms (Part E) work like this:

• KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club and Solitaire PPS Club members who link their accounts can receive Marriott Gold Elite for at least 12 months.
• They can then take the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Accelerator Challenge: 10 Qualifying Nights at Participating Properties within 6 months of registering.
• Completing it gives Platinum for at least 12 months. Allow up to 6 weeks after the last night for the status to appear.
• It is not available to someone who already holds Platinum or above when registering, and it requires KrisFlyer Gold or higher. It is not open to every Marriott Gold member.

After the partner-granted status expires, you have to qualify under the normal Marriott rules. Marriott's Traveler page ("Fast-Tracking Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status") lists other airline links, for example United MileagePlus Premier Gold and above receiving instant Marriott Gold Elite. Partner rules can change, so read the partner's own page before you plan around one.

Events

If you book meetings or events, you earn one Elite Night Credit for every 20 room nights booked and actualized, up to 20 credits per contract (terms, section 5.3). The event must meet the Qualifying Event rules: booked under a Qualifying Event Agreement with your membership number, and at least 10 guest rooms used for at least one night. Rooms booked outside an event agreement do not qualify. This is for the main contact recorded on page one of the event agreement or its authorized signer, not for a typical traveler.

What Platinum adds to Gold, and what Titanium adds to Platinum

Some details that change what you actually get at Platinum:

• Upgrade. The terms say the upgrade covers the whole stay and can include suites, rooms with better views, high floors, corner rooms or Executive Floors. It applies only to your own room. At The Ritz-Carlton, rooms with direct Club access are excluded.
• Welcome gift. It varies by brand and region. For example, at non-resort Marriott Hotels, JW Marriott, Renaissance, Autograph Collection and Delta Hotels in the United States, Canada and Europe, the terms list 1,000 points per stay or a US$10 food and beverage credit per stay. At Courtyard in the same regions, they list 500 points per stay or a US$10 credit per night for you plus one guest.
• Lounge. The Platinum page says that where a hotel brand has lounges, you get access and breakfast. Under the terms, you and one guest staying in your room get access during normal lounge hours at brands including Autograph Collection, Delta Hotels, JW Marriott, Le Meridien, Marriott Hotels, Renaissance, Sheraton and Westin; resort properties are excluded at Autograph Collection, Delta Hotels, JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels and Renaissance. Where the lounge is closed at some of them, the terms give a breakfast in the restaurant or 750 points per night. Lounge access is not offered at brands including W Hotels, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, The Ritz-Carlton and Tribute Portfolio.
• Late checkout. For Platinum and above, 4 p.m. checkout depends on availability at resort and convention hotels, Design Hotels and StudioRes. Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy guarantees 2 p.m.; 4 p.m. depends on availability. Marriott Grand Residence Club, Marriott Vacation Club, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Sheraton Vacation Club, The Phoenician Residences, a Luxury Collection Residence Club, Scottsdale, and Westin Vacation Club are excluded.
• Titanium's 48-hour guarantee. Book by 3 p.m. local time at least 48 hours before arrival, for standard room types only. It does not apply at resort hotels and other brands the terms list, at properties with 25 or fewer rooms, or on some special-event dates.

Late checkout at 4 p.m. and lounge access start at Platinum, not Titanium.

How the Annual Choice Benefits work

At 50 Elite Night Credits in a calendar year, you choose one benefit. At 75, you get one more.

Rules from terms sections 4.3.c and 4.3.d:

• Deadline. Choose on choice-benefit.marriott.com by 11:59 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time on 1 February of the following year. Member Support cannot make the choice for you.
• Final. Choices cannot be changed. If you choose nothing, you get five Nightly Upgrade Awards.
• Expiry. Nightly Upgrade Awards expire on 31 December of the year after the year you earned them. Earned in 2026, use them by 31 December 2027.
• Nightly Upgrade Awards. You need one per room per night for every night of the reservation. Requests can be made up to 2 p.m. local time one day before arrival.
• Free Night Award (Titanium). Worth up to 40,000 points for a standard room, to be used for a stay by 31 December of the year after it is earned. Resort fees may still apply.
• Gifted status. The recipient must be a member who has not yet earned status in that year.
• Five Elite Night Credits. They are credited to the year you earned them, even if you choose them in January. They count toward status. The terms say these credits count toward Elite status and Lifetime Elite status, so a member who finishes a year at 70 credits could use this option to reach 75; the terms do not give that example themselves, so confirm with Marriott before you count on it.

How long status lasts, and lifetime status

The terms give an example: Gold earned in 2025 is Gold for the rest of 2025 and all of 2026. Marriott's Traveler page says status lasts through the following year plus two months. For example, status earned in June 2026 is kept through February 2028.

To renew, you reach the same threshold again within a calendar year. The terms use the words "achieve or renew" for the same 25, 50 and 75 numbers.
