China Southern Guangzhou to Sydney 2026: Flights, Aircraft and Baggage

China Southern's timetable page lists two Guangzhou–Sydney flight pairs, CZ301/CZ302 and CZ325/CZ326, with rows to 24 Oct 2026. CZ301 leaves Guangzhou at 08:00 and CZ325 at 20:50; in the other direction CZ326 leaves Sydney in the morning and CZ302 at night. Sydney Airport's "China Southern Airlines Breaks Sydney-Guangzhou record" release of 22 December 2025 says the flights use a Boeing 787-9 with 28 Business and 269 Economy seats, though China Southern's conditions of carriage (in force from 1 July 2026) say the aircraft type can change. You arrive at T1 International, Sydney Airport's international terminal, where the train station is reached from the arrivals level.

The table copies the CZ301/CZ302 and CZ325/CZ326 rows of China Southern's Flight Timetable PDF, which shows no issue date and says actual flight times are subject to change. The same PDF also lists CZ8091/CZ8092 on selected dates from April to June 2026 and one CZ8091 row on 25 Oct 2026. It does not say whether the times are local, and it gives no flight duration. "+1" means the next day.

Every row prints 1234567 in the Schedule column, which means every day of the week, except CZ325's rows for 29/Mar/2026 to 03/Apr/2026, which print 12345.7; the page has no legend for that pattern. It lists no CZ301 or CZ302 row for 29/Jun/2026.

The Sydney clock times change on 03/Oct/2026 for CZ325 and on 04/Oct/2026 for the other flights, and the timetable gives no reason. The NSW Government daylight saving page says daylight saving 2026 starts on Sunday 4 October 2026 at 2am AEST, when clocks move forward 1 hour to 3am.

The timetable lists no rows for CZ301, CZ302, CZ325 or CZ326 after 24 Oct 2026, so check China Southern's timetable page for the winter season.

How many flights a day does China Southern fly between Sydney and Guangzhou?

Sydney Airport's release of 22 December 2025 says China Southern is growing Sydney–Guangzhou from two daily to three daily flights for the Northern Summer (5 April to 3 October 2026), with a fourth daily service during peak Chinese New Year periods. The timetable lists two flight pairs in the same months, with 1234567 in the Schedule column, and the pages do not explain the difference.

What aircraft does China Southern use between Guangzhou and Sydney?

Sydney Airport's "China Southern Airlines Breaks Sydney-Guangzhou record" release of 22 December 2025 says all Sydney–Guangzhou services will be operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with 28 Business Class and 269 Economy Class seats; its "China Southern Airlines expands services at Sydney Airport" release of 22 August 2025 says the same for the schedule it announces. China Southern's B787-9(78C) layout page shows 297 seats with the same split. It does not say which routes use the layout and calls it a reference only.

Article 7.1.1 of China Southern's General Conditions of Carriage says the flight time and aircraft type in the schedule can change between publication and your trip, China Southern does not guarantee them, and they are not part of the contract of carriage. The timetable has no aircraft column, and no page says which aircraft flies which flight number.

How much baggage can you check and carry on between Guangzhou and Sydney?

China Southern's baggage rules, 2026 first edition, in force from 9 January 2026, are a Chinese-language PDF that prevails over translations. They cover trips between the Chinese mainland and the Southwest Pacific, which they say includes Australia.

• Fare brands. On some itineraries China Southern sells saver and basic economy brands. The saver brand has 1 piece fewer than the discounted economy brand; the basic brand has no free checked baggage. The rules do not say these brands are sold on Guangzhou–Sydney, and the allowance shown at purchase applies, so check the brand when you buy.
• Students and members. Economy passengers under 30 who study at a recognised school outside their country or region of nationality can add 1 piece between the Chinese mainland (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and Australia and New Zealand, with copies of a valid passport, visa and proof of study shown at purchase. It applies only to fares between the country or region of study and your country or region of nationality, not on the saver or basic brands, and not if you already have Pearl Club or partner-airline elite extra baggage. The rules give no number for Pearl Club extra baggage.
• Codeshare. The baggage rule follows the operating or the marketing carrier, depending on the bilateral agreement.
• Carry-on. On international flights Business gets 2 pieces and Economy 1, each at most 8 kg and at most 55 cm, 40 cm and 20 cm (22, 16 and 8 inches). Every passenger except a non-seat infant can also bring one small computer bag, camera bag, briefcase or handbag that fits under the seat in front.

For excess baggage, the baggage rules put Chinese mainland–Southwest Pacific trips in "itinerary group 2". Trips starting in the Chinese mainland are charged in RMB and trips starting in Sydney in USD. When two or more limits are exceeded, the charges are cumulative. China Southern accepts a piece of at most 32 kg and, on international flights, three sides adding up to at most 203 cm.

Which terminal do you land at in Sydney?

Sydney Airport calls T1 its International terminal and T2/T3 its Domestic terminals, and its airline directory lists China Southern Airlines (CZ) as an international airline. A flight from Guangzhou therefore arrives at T1 International, although no page names the terminal for these specific flights.

How do you get from Sydney Airport T1 to the city?

Sydney Airport's Transport options page says the airport is 8 km from the Sydney CBD, about 25 minutes by car in light traffic.

• Finding the train. Sydney Airport says the International station is reached from the arrivals level, past Arrivals Hall A. Transport NSW's "Getting to and from Sydney Airport" page says to exit at Exit A, turn right and head to the end. Transport NSW also lists the adult station access fee at $18.61 (weekly cap $37.75) and $19.00 for an Opal single trip ticket.
• Taxi flat fare. Sydney Airport's "Taxi and Rideshare at Sydney Airport" page says a flat-fare trial started on 3 November 2025 for one-way trips from a taxi rank to a designated Sydney CBD area: $60 for a standard taxi, including wheelchair-accessible services, and $80 for a maxi taxi with five or more passengers or on request (not when carrying a wheelchair user), including taxes, fees and tolls; a card surcharge or cleaning fee may apply. Trips to destinations outside the designated Sydney CBD area are charged by the meter.

Can you connect through Guangzhou, or onward in Sydney?

China Southern's "Domestic-International Transit Flow" page for Guangzhou Baiyun Terminal 2 covers Terminal 2 only. It does not say which terminal the Sydney flights use and gives no minimum connection time. For a domestic flight into an international one, a through ticket means going to the transfer counter unless you already hold the connecting boarding pass, and the page lists no baggage collection step; without a through ticket you collect baggage on the first floor and check in again at the first-floor transfer counter.

In Sydney, the airport's Terminal transfers page says the free Terminal Transfer Bus runs every 15 minutes between 05:30 and 22:30, takes 10 minutes and leaves from the T1 arrivals level outside Arrival Hall B. The Airport Link train between T1 and T2/T3 takes 2 minutes.

Do you need a visa to enter Australia on a Chinese passport, and what must you declare?

The Australian Embassy's Visiting Australia page (last updated 29 July 2026) says People's Republic of China passport holders are not eligible for an ETA (subclass 601) or an eVisitor (subclass 651). The Visitor visa (subclass 600) covers tourism or business visitor activities and is applied for online. The Transit visa (subclass 771) allows no longer than 72 hours if your main purpose is to pass through to another country. The embassy page gives no fee or processing time; apply through the Department of Home Affairs.

On arrival, the Australian Border Force (ABF) "Arriving and leaving" page says you need a valid passport or travel document and, if you are not an Australian citizen, a valid visa. Arriving passengers complete an Incoming Passenger Card.

ABF's "What food can you bring in?" page says food items must be declared on the card if you arrive by plane, even small amounts or cooking ingredients. ABF's sample Incoming Passenger Card (design date 07/19, so the card in use may differ) asks about AUD$10,000 or more in Australian or foreign currency equivalent, goods obtained overseas or bought duty or tax free with a combined price of more than AUD$900 including gifts, alcohol and tobacco above set amounts, and food or plant items. It tells you to answer Yes if unsure. ABF's arrival and food pages give no biosecurity penalty amounts.

Rules to check before you book

What do the ticket, change and refund rules say?

China Southern's conditions of carriage (Article 15.1) are in force from 1 July 2026 and replace the issue of 1 January 2026. Under Article 15.2.1, later modifications do not apply to passengers who bought tickets before them.

• Validity (3.1.2.2). Unless otherwise specified, one year: from the day after issue if no portion is used, or from the day after travel starts if part is used. An unused ticket reissued with a new ticket number gets one year from the day after the exchange.
• Voluntary change and refund (8.2.2, 9.2.1). Both follow the conditions of use of your ticket. The international change fee follows the stricter conditions among the flight segments.
• Involuntary change and refund (8.3.1, 8.3.2, 9.3.1). If your flight is delayed, cancelled or rerouted, you get one free change, and the refund carries no refund fee. If you do not accept China Southern's arrangement, the new date on an international flight can be within 7 days before and 14 days after the original date.
• Refund timing (9.1.1.3). Apply no later than one month after the ticket validity ends. China Southern completes the refund within 7 working days of a valid application, not counting the processing time of financial institutions.

Are there sale dates to know about?

China Southern's Australia-site page "From Sydney via Guangzhou to the World" (no date on the page) lists a round-trip promotion from Sydney via Guangzhou to onward destinations, booked on China Southern's official website. It is not for the Guangzhou–Sydney sector itself.

The terms say child tickets are charged at the full adult fare, and promotional tickets are non-refundable, non-exchangeable and non-endorsable once issued. China Southern's "25 Years of Gratitude" page (no date) lists an extra daily flight to 24 February 2026 and a "GROUP" promo code valid until 31 December 2025; both have ended.
